Self-Energies and Rotational Symmetry

چکیده
The rotational invariance is violated in the lightcone quantization method when the Fock space is truncated for practical calculations. To what extent the rotation symmetry is broken in the lightcone quantization approach can be quantified by calculating the explicit rotation dependence of the two-body scattering phase shifts. We analyze the scattering phase shifts in a simple scalar field model, extending the lightcone ladder approximation to the lowest order lightcone Tamm-Dancoff approximation in which the self-energy corrections are incorporated. We find that the self-energy effects significantly restore the rotation symmetry. Also, these effects make the phase shifts stabilize as the coupling constant grows. This is in a good agreement with the previous bound state results that the self-energy effects are as repulsive as relativistic kinematic corrections and retardation effects.

Chaos and isospin symmetry breaking in rotational nuclei
For nuclei with N ≈ Z, the isospin degree of freedom is important and, for deformed systems, rotational bands of different isospin may be expected at low excitation energies. We have investigated, in a simple model space, the influence of the isospin-breaking Coulomb interaction on the degree of chaoticity of these rotational bands. The statistical measures used rely on an analysis of level-spa...
متن کاملRestoration of the Broken D2-symmetry in the Mean Field Description of Rotating Nuclei
Signature effects observed in rotational bands are a consequence of an inherent D2-symmetry. This symmetry is naturally broken by the mean field cranking approximation when a tilted (non-principal) axis orientation of the nuclear spin becomes stable. The possible tunneling forth and back between the two symmetry-related minima in the double-humped potential-energy surface appears as a typical b...
متن کاملOrientational disorder in plastic molecular crystals - III. - Infrared and Raman spectroscopy of internal modes
2014 The formalism of symmetry adapted functions for molecular orientations introduced previously [5, 6] is here applied to the analysis of the Raman and infrared spectroscopy of internal modes in orientationally disordered molecular crystals. In some favorable cases, the contribution to the Raman and infrared lineshapes arising from the rotational dynamics of the molecules can be disentangled ...

The vibrationally resolved X-ray photoelectron spectra of X2Σg+(3σg−1) and B2Σu+(2σu−1) states of N2+ were recorded for different photon energies and orientations of the polarization vector. Clear dependencies of the spectral line widths on the X-ray polarization as well as on the symmetry of the final electronic states are observed. Contrary to the translational Doppler, the rotational Doppler...
متن کاملThe ∆I=4 bifurcation in superdeformed bands
The origin of the ∆I=4 staggering effect which has recently been observed in several su-perdeformed bands is discussed. The Hamamoto and Mottelson model, which is based on a phenomenological parametrization of the hamiltonian as a quartic function of angular momentum , is analyzed. A stability of the description with respect to the C 4-symmetry breaking terms is studied. Recently, a puzzling ne...
